NSTAR Hits the SEMICON China Show Floor

This week marks new ground for NSTAR Global Services, as we partner with our parent company M+W Group to attend SEMICON China, a first in our company’s history. Simply put, the China edition of the SEMICON trade show has become the biggest version of the series in the world. Backed by the government’s China 2025 plan, the local semiconductor market is seeing the largest investments and subsequent expansions of semiconductor manufacturing globally. We suspect this will continue to be the overall trend in the coming years.
As a leading semiconductor service company, China offers significant opportunities and SEMICON China offers an excellent opportunity to showcase our capabilities. At the show, we will formally introduce M+W Perform, our new dedicated services offering developed for China and the global market place. This new service offering combines NSTAR and M+W capabilities to provide a more integrated and cost-effective support resource to our clients—from construction to production ramps to operating/improving fab performance.
M+W Perform is designed to ensure our team can respond to local requests from our customers in China. It also offers the potential to open new doors as we engage in new markets and with potential new clients. Our goal during SEMICON is to meet with key clients to apprise them of M+W Perform and explain what it means to them; how it is different from what we’ve been doing, but, more importantly, how it strengthens our capabilities in China.
We’ve been a long-term participant in SEMICON West—where we have leveraged the opportunity to present our full capabilities to clients in San Francisco. We’re excited that we will now be able to do the same in Shanghai and anywhere in China. M+W Perform should allow us to achieve a larger presence within the semiconductor industry, while at the same time growing our portfolio via geographic and economic market diversification.
While we’re proud to support SEMI and China’s semiconductor industry from the show floor, it is important that we also look outside the walls of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. We have held a long-standing presence in China, but the launch of M+W Perform gives us an official presence and strong footprint that provides the ability to showcase specific and integrated offerings to potential new clients. We are already actively supporting solar, flat-panel and electronics contract manufacturing clients in China. However, we can be of real service and add value to sectors like information technology, robotics, medical devices and transportation, including aerospace technology and automotive.
SEMICON China and the M+W Perform launch come at a time when China is in the midst of receiving vast investments from companies as well as its own government. SEMI estimates that 20 or more new fab projects were underway or announced in China for 2016/17. The report titled, “Fab Investment Surge in China,” by Clark Tseng, Dan Tracy & Gavin Wang (all of SEMI) sums the local market nicely.
Maybe not so coincidentally, 2017 is a fire rooster year, signifying that incoming challenges met with quick wit and practical solutions can be transformed into fortunes. Together, M+W Group and NSTAR are ready to help our clients meet their challenges in 2017 to ensure their success in the global semiconductor industry.
