Safety at NSTAR
A message from NSTAR's Safety Compliance Officer

NSTAR Global Services advocates a culture of safety awareness and compliance. This begins with our pre-employment qualifications to ensure that everyone has the required basic knowledge for a successful employment experience upon receiving an offer of employment with NSTAR. Employees must successfully complete the safety training courses.

This culture of safety awareness and compliance continues with requirements to complete new or additional safety training courses as specified by NSTAR’s customer, the customer’s client, or as directed in compliance with state and federal guidelines. In addition, employees are required to complete annual re-certification of their safety training courses as a condition of continued employment with NSTAR. Employee annual evaluations have been modified to ensure safety and safety training compliance is reflected as an integral part of their performance evaluations.

NSTAR Safety Courses Currently Include:
  • Back Safety
  • Electrical Safety
  • Ergonomics
  • Hazard Communications
  • HAZWOPER Introduction
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Lockout/Tag out
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Slips, Trips and Falls
  • Cranes, Hoist and Lifts
*These are the minimum safety training courses required.

NSTAR/M+W Group: Principles to Driving Our Core Values:
  • EH&S requires both Robust Systems and a Leadership Safety Culture. “Strong systems and Culture result in safe conditions and safe behaviors.”
  • Within our culture each person leads and serves his/her co-workers by example (safe work performance).
  • We will promote the sharing of skills and information (transparency) related to EH&S.
  • We must create a climate of courage where it is acceptable to openly challenge unsafe conditions and behavior.
  • All personnel (managers, supervisors, employees, and contractors) positively challenge unsafe conditions and behavior.
NSTAR is committed to providing our employees with the appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, shoes and respirators.
